Aluminum Conductor Composite Core (ACCC®)
The ACCC® Conductor represents a major technological leap in overhead transmission lines. Unlike traditional ACSR cables that use a steel core, ACCC utilizes a patented Hybrid Carbon & Glass Fiber Composite Core. This core is significantly lighter and stronger than steel, and crucially, it has a near-zero coefficient of thermal expansion, meaning it does not sag significantly even under high heat load.
Surrounding the core are Trapezoidal-shaped fully annealed aluminum wires (TW). This compact design eliminates the air gaps found in round-wire cables, allowing for ~28% more aluminum in the same diameter.
